RubyGems.org contained a bug that could allow an attacker to replace some .gem files on their servers with a different file that they supplied. The vulnerability was fixed on April 4, 2016, and every .gem uploaded after Feb 8, 2015, was verified, showing no evidence of tampering. The RubyGems team is urging maintainers of gems whose name contains a dash (e.g. ‘blank-blank’) uploaded before February 8, 2015, to verify their integrity.
